Having trouble with this problem. I've taken steps to find the molar masses of both carbon and hydrogen then convert both into their respective amount in grams (C=2.6117 g and H=0.6568g). I subtracted these from 5.00g to derive the amount of oxygen in grams, which I got was 1.7314g. The thing is when I divide by the lowest number (hydrogens), the oxygens do not evenly divide. I get 4 carbons, 1 hydrogen, and 2.6359 oxygens. The whole number I found to make it close to an integer was by multiplying everything by 11, but that would be too much atomic weight .

A college finds that 8% of students have taken a distance learning class and that 20% of students are part-time students. Of the part-time students, 20% have taken a distance learning class. Let D = event that a student takes a distance learning class and E = event that a student is a part-time student. Find (D and E)

Suppose a particle is moving along a straight line and its position with respect to a reference point is s = 4t^3 – 8t^2 + 3t + 2 (where s is in meters and t is in seconds). (c) Find the acceleration at the instant when the velocity is 0.

1) Insects do not have lungs as we do, nor do they breathe through their mouths. Instead, they have a system of tiny tubes, called tracheae, through which oxygen diffuses into their bodies. The tracheae begin at the surface of an insect’s body and penetrate into the interior. Suppose that a trachea is 1.9 mm long with a cross-sectional area of m2. The concentration of oxygen in the air outside the insect is 0.28 kg/m3, and the diffusion constant is m2/s. If the mass per second of oxygen diffusing through a trachea is kg/s, find the oxygen concentration at the interior end of the tube.

A survey shows that an increase in drug use by young people. In the ensuing debate, two hypotheses are proposed: •Reduced police efforts have increased the availability of drugs on the street. •Cutbacks in education efforts have decreased awareness of the dangers of drug addiction. a) Use supply and demand diagrams to show how each of these hypotheses could lead to an increase in drugs consumed. b) How could information on what happened to the price of drugs help us to distinguish between these explanations?
