Assignment: You work in the Market Research department of a Consumer Packaged Goods company which is looking to launch a new energy drink to college students. The Marketing team has asked you to conduct research to determine the size of the market, determine the feasibility of launching the product, and present a final recommendation. Product: Energy Drink, sold for $4.99 in a 6-pack or $1.49 per can individually. Flavors to include caramel, mint, and jolt me alive (think mountain dew). You will need to determine how to size the market in terms of the number of potential consumers and market value, and what research to conduct to see if the product is a good fit for this target group. You should use one quantitative and one qualitative technique, including creating the questionnaires and outlining how you would conduct the research in both cases. You will not need to actually conduct the research given the current situation we are in, but you should pretend you are going to by following all the appropriate steps. Review Chapter 10, which outlines options for both quantitative and qualitative market research. Then, put together how many students you would sample, what questions you would ask, what the objective is, etc. All of this information is in the lecture slides and chapter of the book. Point Total is 180 points. Evaluation criteria: - Segment size calculated correctly (does the math make sense) – 50 points - Creation and design of qualitative and quantitative research studies – 100 points - Presentation with no spelling/grammar errors and choosing correct techniques – 30 points
