pH of Aqueous Sulfuric Acid
Calculate the pH of a 5.10×10⁻³ M solution of H₂SO₄.
($K_a$ = 0.0120 for HSO₄⁻)
1.471
HSO₄⁻ is not that acidic.
H₂SO₄ is a strong acid and is also diprotic. The first H⁺ dissociates completely. The equilibrium position for the dissociation of the second H⁺ must be calculated.
