1 Perform an energy balance of your process around the reactor (ONLY), using an energy
balance equation and eliminate all the terms that are not applicable to your process. It is
necessary to do an inlet-outlet enthalpy table so all your moles (in and out) and enthalpy in
and out are listed in that table. The inlet and outlet temperature of the reactor should be
somewhere in the process description or in the literature. Then use integration and other
methods you learnt in class to determine the enthalpy not forgetting to consider the phase
change (if any)
