1. The deflection system shown in Fig. 1 consists of two adjacent parallel plate capacitors with given geometrical dimensions 41, l2 and h (not to scale the figure). The lower capacitor plates are grounded (zero potential) while the upper plates can be maintained at arbitrary controlling potentials V and V. Find such V and V, (including their polarities) that are needed to rcalize the following motion of a particle of positive charge a and mass m in the plane of Fig. 1. The particle enters the system at point A with given speed v, at angle 30deg to the horizontal direction. Aſter executing some trajectory inside the system, the particle exits at point B (of the same vertical position as point A) and moving strictly horizontally.
