Hello student, here is a brief sketch of a mac protocol for the wireless lane technology with a single access point in an aeroplane that satisfies the two requirements which are given to us.
00:11
The people in the business class must have a higher priority to the medium than those in the economy class.
00:18
Within a class, the protocol must try to be fair and must maximize throughput.
00:24
The protocol is based on ieee 802 .11 protocol but with the following changes.
00:31
Priority e station is assigned a priority based on its class.
00:36
Business class stations have a higher than economy class.
00:40
Number 2, fair within a class, stations are scheduled in a round -robin fashion.
00:45
So this ensures that all the stations have an equal opportunity to transmit.
00:50
So these are two changes.
00:53
Now protocol work as follows.
00:55
When the station has a data to transmit it, send a contention free periods request to the access point cfp.
01:03
Now second point is the access point grant cfp request to the station with the highest priority.
01:10
Number 3, the station transmit its data during the cfp.
01:14
Number 4, after the cfp, the access point grant the next cfp request to the station within the highest priority.
01:22
So this process continues until all the station have transmitted their data.
01:27
To maximize the throughput, the access point can use a technique called transmit power control tpc.
01:34
Tpc allow the access point to adjust the transmit power of each station to ensure all the station can communicate with the access point within the interference...
