[4] 1.2 READ the scenarios below and IDENTIFY which of the three (3) dimensions of Professional Studies each represents. JUSTIFY your answer by linking what you know about the dimension and what is described in the scenario. [9] 1.2.1 Scenario 1 A teacher who is successfully managing her classroom will establish the class rules at the beginning of the year and refer to them regularly. She will also craft the class rules in a democratic manner that includes dialogue with her learners. In this way, she will have buy-in from her learners and clear boundaries in place. (Engelbrecht, 2024) (3) 1.2.2 Scenario 2 A teacher who is aware of the challenges of second language learners in the Foundation Phase, will make a point of labelling items in the classroom using more than one language, encourage learners to celebrate and share their language and read stories in more than one language. He is very energetic, and the learners in his class describe him as a 'visionary'. He has also fulfilled the role of Grade Head for the Grade 3 department for over 20 years. He has served on various committees at the school and has been part of the planning and directing of the curriculum in the Foundation Phase. He likes to challenge the teachers and the learners on various levels. To him, assessment should be meaningful and fun. This year he decided to give an assignment to the Grade 3 learners in which they had to interview and evaluate a teacher at school.
