Flight dynamics and modes of motion
a) Determine the state space equations: dx/dt = Ax + Bu; y = Cx; A, B, C: stability derivatives matrices
b) Appropriate Transfer Functions by using the newly calculated and/or collected data for selected or a newly designed type of an aircraft and/or UAV. For example, F-16, F-18, F-35, etc., similar to STOL transport aircraft in Appendix B (see Nelson, 2nd Edition, etc.), using the geometric, mass, and aerodynamic characteristics, constant and/or unconstant dominant stability derivatives.
c) Investigate the system matrix A: find and discuss the eigenvalues of the matrix for longitudinal and lateral modes of the aircraft motion.
c) Determine the time responses of the airplane, for example, to a step input of the elevator oe = -0.1 rad and/or other appropriate aileron, rudder control surfaces, by using Matlab/Simulink.
