If you want to know what the sum of the two vectors C is, follow this procedure. Draw the first vector A with its tail at the origin. The length should be proportional to the magnitude of A. It should make angle θ_A with the x axis. Draw the next vector B with its tail at the tip of A. This length should be proportional to the magnitude of B and make angle θ_B with the x axis. The vector C that connects the tail of A to the tip of B is the resultant, or sum of the individual vectors. See below, right.
