right diagram), as shown. Assume the tank has a shape of a rectangular prism with rounded corners at the
bottom. The radius of the quarter circle is 2 ft and the length of the tank (perpendicular to the paper is 2
ft). The pressure gage on the top of the tank reads 7 psig, and the outside of the tank is at atmospheric
pressure. FIND: (a) Compute the horizontal and vertical components of the hydrostatic force on the
quarter circle volume bounded by surface B-C; (b) compute the total hydrostatic force.
