A simple random sample of size n = 24 is obtained from a population that is known to be normally distributed.
(i) What would it mean to make a type II error for this test?
(ii) If in this experiment the probability of making a type II error = 0.4, what is the power of the test?
(iii) If from your hypothesis test at alpha = 0.05 (and above power is true) you get a p -value = 0.15, what do you conclude? Do you trust these results, why or why not? Did they have enough power? if not what should the scientist have done?
