7. Your patient is 17 yo and just delivered her first baby at 1305 after pushing. She had a second degree perineal laceration with repair. She couldn't decide whether or not she wanted an epidural but once she decided she did, she was 9 cm, 100% effaced and +2 station so she wasn't able to have it placed. She was admitted the night before at 1900 and given Cytotec po. IV Pitocin was started around 6am. She has been npo since midnight.
After the delivery she declined to have the baby placed skin to skin on her chest. Additionally she has requested that the significant other give the baby it's first bottle. Currently she is eating a cheeseburger and dozing between bites.
Are you concerned about there being an alteration in maternal role attainment with this patient?
