A 65year old HIV couple from Thailand is living alone in a suburban village with no family support available. They were depressed due to isolation, internalized shame and perceived stigma. They have several issues with health such as sleeping problems, Arthritis, Diabetes. Sometimes the couple was reluctant for medication due to many medicines in a day. They are confined to home due to mobility problems. Though they are covered under Social security system but it is not sufficient to fulfil their needs due to rising medical needs. 1. Read the case and Identify biological variables. 2. Identify Psychological variables. 3. Identify Social variables

1. What does it take for a person to be transferred from the HIV Prevention Continuum to the HIV Care Continuum? Choose all that apply. The desire of the person to be transferred to the other group Consistent high risk behaviors A positive HIV test result A psychological assessment of the person What is the underlying principle of U=U? Group of answer choices The lower the viral load, the lower the risk of transmission. The more viral suppression, the higher the risk of survival. The fewer viral load tests performed, the lower the certainty of the actual viral load. The more you know, the better. The Health Decision Model considers _______, which the Health Belief Model does not. Choose all that apply. Group of answer choices Interaction Severity Knowledge Experience One of the reason AIDS Fundamentals was created was to help reduce HIV incidence among UCI students. What is the main principle of behavior change being used by this class? Group of answer choices Cognitive Emotional Behavioral Interpersonal

HIV in sub-Saharan Africa. In July 2008, the US National Institutes of Health announced that it was stopping a clinical study early because of unexpected results. The study population consisted of HIV-infected women in sub-Saharan Africa who had been given a single dose of Nevirapine (a treatment for HIV) while giving birth to prevent transmission of HIV to the infant. The study was a randomized comparison of continued treatment of a woman (after successful childbirth) with Nevirapine vs. Lopinavir, a second drug used to treat HIV. 240 women participated in the study; 120 were randomized to each of the two treatments. Twenty-four weeks after starting the study treatment, each woman was tested to determine if the HIV infection was becoming worse (an outcome called virologic failure). Twenty-six of the 120 women treated with Nevirapine experienced virologic failure, while 10 of the 120 women treated with the other drug experienced virologic failure. (a) Create a two-way table presenting the results of this study. (b) State appropriate hypotheses to test for independence of treatment and virologic failure. (c) Complete the hypothesis test and state an appropriate conclusion. (Reminder: Verify any necessary conditions for the test.)

Test for HIV Tests called ELISAs (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays) detect and quantify substances such as HIV antibodies in biological samples. A "sandwich" assay traps the HIV antibody between two other molecules. The trapping event causes a detector molecule to change color. To make a sandwich assay for HIV, you need the following components: one plate to which the molecules are attached; a 0.550 mg sample of the recognition molecule that "recognizes" the HIV antibody; 1.200 mg of the capture molecule that "captures" the HIV antibody in a sandwich; and $0.450 \mathrm{mg}$ of the detector molecule that produces a visible color when the HIV antibody is captured. You need to make 96 plates for an assay. You are given the following quantitics of material: 100.00 mg of the recognition molecule; 100.00 mg of the capture molecule; and $50.00 \mathrm{mg}$ of the detector molecule. a. Do you have sufficient material to make 96 plates? b. If you do, how much of each material is left after 96 sandwich assays are assembled? If you do not have sufficient material to make 96 assays, how many assays can you assemble?
