A ball of 5.0 kg mass is attached to the end of a long wire and whirled around in a perfect circle of 0.9 m radius in the vertical plane as shown in Figure 1 i. With the aid of free body diagrams calculate the following:
a) the minimum linear and angular velocity that the ball should be moving to still maintain a circular path (in Figure 1 i).
b) the maximum tension in the wire at this minimum velocity (in Figure 1 i).
c) In a separate case, if the ball on the 0.9 m wire was whirled in a horizontal circular path as shown in Figure 1 ii calculate the angle, θ, the wire would make with the vertical when the tension in the string is 250 N.
