A certain corporation hires a Fact Checker to discredit a newly released scientific paper that used statistical inference. Unfortunately for the corporation the results of the paper went against the narrative that would benefit a prominent stakeholder. The Fact Checker asserts that the paper presents an unproven theory. Proposition One: The assertion is suspicious because all theories are unproven. Proposition TWO: The assertion is suspicious because if theory was proven then it would be called a law or a fact.
