One of the key differences between a bar chart and histogram is: the histogram contains gaps between the bars and the bar chart does not. a bar chart is used to display a categorical variable and a histogram is used to display the distribution of a quantitative variable. the histogram shows relative frequency while the bar chart shows frequency. the bar chart must be vertical while the histogram must be horizontal.
