A rectangular RC slab has the dimensions and support conditions shown in Figure 2b, with the dimensions of the slab and individual parameters. The yield lines cross the boundary of the free-edge, with the yield line pattern shown in the figure.
It is also subjected to a UDL, n = w kN/m², where the UDL, n, is an individual parameter. The amount of steel reinforcement at the top of the section is the same as the amount of steel at the bottom of the section. The amount of steel in the two orthogonal directions is also the same and is given in Figure 2b. Using the Hillerborg strip method, calculate the moment of resistance in the slab using triangular strips where appropriate.
Assume any strong strips necessary are 0.5m wide.
