A scientist divides a room of students into three groups. Each group takes a memory test in one of three rooms: a room held at a constant temperature of 40°F, a room held at 60°F, and a room held at 80°F. Afterwards, test scores are used to determine if temperature affects memory. Temperature is the variable; memory test score is the variable.
