A stripline is a transmission line with a flat strip of metal sandwiched between two parallel connected conductors. The width of the inner conductor is w, and it is separated from the lower and upper conductors by distance h. The dielectric between the conductors has ε = 2.5ε₀. If a total charge +q is on the inner conductor and a total charge -q on the two outer conductors, then there is an electric field as shown below. We can assume that the field is uniform and only in the x direction.
a) Use Gauss's Law to find the magnitude of the electric field created by the +q and -q charges.
b) Use your answer to part (a) to find the voltage (potential difference) between the conductors.
c) Find an expression for the capacitance of the stripline.
