According to a structural functionalist, which is a feature of mass society ?
Shaiju T.
The various groups to which you belong likely have values and behavioral norms. As a simple example, it might be appropriate to act a certain way in school or in a classroom, for example, raising our hand to ask the instructor a question. However, this behavior is likely different at home, as a member of your own family, in order to ask your parent a question. Critics of cultural relativism argue that you cannot simply rely on your culture to determine the correct course of action, given that cultures often overlap and do not have a simple, unified sense. Cultural relativism has little to say about whether you should align your moral and ethical views with your religion, nationality, ethnicity, family, peer groups, or family, especially when those various groups have conflicting values. Moreover, as various groups or societies change their views, cultural relativism appears to imply that morality changes as well. For example, if 63 percent of the population once supported child labor laws but later only 37 percent did, then cultural relativism appears to imply that child labor laws are now unjust, a conclusion that many people are likely to find problematic.
