Problem 1: Select which piping installation you will recommend. An Industrial Plant requires 400 gpm of water to be delivered from a mainline where the pressure is 20 psig to an overhead tank 100 ft above the pump centerline. The following straight pipes and fittings will be used from suction to discharge:
- Length of straight pipe: 120 ft
- Standard elbow: 4 pcs
- Standard Tee: 2 pcs
- Check valve: 1 pc
- Globe valve: 1 pc
- Gate valve (fully opened): 1 pc
Select between a 7-inch pipe and an 8-inch diameter pipe. Show the power requirements for each if the pump is to operate 18 hrs/day, 30 days a month.
