Model 1 Basicity of Amines: Neutral amines may react as either organic bases or as nucleophiles. In this model, we will focus on basicity. pKa values can be used to describe acid strength. A lower pKa indicates a stronger acid. pKb values can be used to describe base strength. Lower pKb indicates a stronger base.
