Hey everyone, today we're going through another problem from chapter one of your textbook, and in this problem we are given a set of four different questions, so we'll have part a, b, part c, and finally part d, and we are asked to identify whether or not these questions will yield categorical data results or quantitative data.

So in part a, they asked what price did you pay for the vehicle, another way to think about this is how many dollars do you have to spend to get the vehicle.

So when you have how many of something involved, you know, dollars in this case, it's going to be a numerical value and it's going to be quantitative data.

That first question is quantitative.

And the second question, we are asked, how did we pay for the vehicle and there are three options given, cash, lease, or finance? when options are given like these, and they're not numerical, it's always going to be categorical.

Because, you know, the method of payment itself, when you have different methods to do something or go about something, like the cash method, the lease method, or the finance method, it's going to be categorical because those methods are split up into three different categories.

All right, in part c, you're asked, how likely would you be to recommend this be equal to a friend? and they give you four different options from definitely not, you're probably not, you probably will, to definitely will.

When they give you four options, like i mentioned in part b, it's always going to be categorical.

Especially in this case, because it's like how likely would you recommend? so very opinion -based questions like this often tend to be categorical, even if they have numbers.

So in part d, like i just mentioned before, it's asked for your overall rating on a 10 -point scale, but don't get confused just because it's a 10 -point scale your numbers, there is that finite end.
