An irregular sample of firm clay was cut from a trial hole of which, after weighing, was coated with paramin wax and transported to a laboratory for testing. In the laboratory, the waxcoated sample was weighed and its volume found by means of the water-displacement* method. The following were collected:
- Mass of sample before wax coating - \( \quad 834.2 \mathrm{~g} \)
- Mass of sample atter wax-coating - 856.6 g
- Volume of water displaced - 426.2 ml
- Density of paratfin wax - \( 0.62 \mathrm{~g} / \mathrm{ml} \)
- Moisture content of sample . \( \quad 12.5 \% \).
- Grain speciric gravity . . 2.65
Determine the following:
a) Buk density
b) Dry density
c) Void ratio
d) Porosity
e) Percentage Alr volds
i) Degree of Qaturation
