As you begin this introduction to the field of social psychology, please think of one current social, political, national, or technological event or advancement that appears to have spurred research in social psychology. Describe that event or advancement and describe the current research that is being done regarding it.

After reading the chapter and learning about Social Psychology, locate a recent article in the popular media (like a newspaper or magazine) that illustrates a concept in Social Psychology. (The eBook is a good place to find a topic). Discuss which Social Psychology concept is being discussed, then locate at least one piece of scientific research (like a scholarly journal) on the topic. You may not write about the work of Stanley Milgram, Solomon Asch, or Philip Zimbardo. Be sure to write a summary that compares and contrasts what the popular article seems to be saying about the topic versus what the research article says about the same subject. The length should be 2 double-spaced pages (not more than 3). All outside source information must be paraphrased and cited/referenced. Direct quotes are not permitted on any assessment in this course.
