Assignment D: Molecular Speed of Gas Molecules
The speed of gas molecules depends on the molar mass of the molecules in the gas and the temperature of the gas. It follows logically that higher temperatures equate to higher kinetic energies and higher speeds. Also, molecules that are lighter should have higher speeds than those that are heavier.
