AUTUMN IN ISTANBUL
a) Water is flowing in a covered irrigation ditch below ground in İstanbul at autumn. Every 100 m there is a vent line 0.01 m inside diameter and 0.20 m long to the outside atmosphere (1 atm) at 25°C. There are 10 vents in the 1000 m ditch. The outside air can be assumed to be dry. Calculate the total evaporation loss of water daily (kg/day). Assume that the partial pressure of water vapor at the surface of the water is 76 mmHg. At 25°C, $D_{AB} = 0.26 \times 10^{-4} m^2/s$ and At 0°C, $D_{AB} = 0.22 \times 10^{-4} m^2/s$
b) What would be the diffusion coefficient if the same irrigation ditch is present at the mountain region with 0.846 atm outside temperature at 0°C?
