Blood alcohol content, BAC, is a measure of alcohol intoxication. It is defined as the number of grams of alcohol per 100 mL of blood. A person's BAC can be determined by titrating a sample of blood plasma with potassium permanganate solution. A 10.00 mL sample of blood plasma from a suspected drunk driver was titrated, and 40.74 mL of an acidified 0.01061 M potassium permanganate solution were required to convert all of the alcohol (C2H5OH) into carbon dioxide.
Calculate:
(1) the mass of alcohol in the sample of blood plasma from the driver,
(2) the BAC for the driver, and
(3) determine if the driver was legally intoxicated.
