Both Rudolfo Anaya, in Bless Me, Ultima, and Allan Johnson, in Privilege, Power, and Difference, argue that by taking a path of greater resistance, people can fight against societal injustice. In Bless Me, Ultima, the characters of Antonio and Ultima challenge the choice of taking a path of least resistance, as introduced by Johnson, by standing up against injustices.
According to Gerbner et al. (1980), there are varying patterns of associations between amounts of viewing and conceptions of reality for different social groups that can be explained in relation to two systematic processes: mainstreaming and resonance.
Parents also fear for their kids because they do not understand them. A boy named Evan best explains this in “More from the Hellmouth: Kids Tell About Rage.” He says, “People fear what they don’t understand, and let’s face it, the world... isn’t something most people can understand...” (Katz, 2001, p. 81).

But that does not mean that such concerns should not be expressed and investigated. After all, improper interference with academic freedom was found to have taken place. And the allegations raised by doctors are ones which deserve further inquiry.
A variety of research has shown that persuasive messages such as those in alcohol advertising succeed by their use of well-targeted social cues that include attractiveness, similarity, and social rewards (Schooler, Basil, & Altman, 1996), and features such as colors, music, action, and humor (Aitken, Eadie, Leathar, McNeill, & Scott, 1988).
Shaw and colleagues (2005) recognize that, due to increasing demands on the school, reading specialists who formerly worked with individual students are now responsible for impacting the whole school (see also Cassidy, 2007). However, the International Reading Association emphasizes that, while the role of a literacy coach is manifested differently across settings, side-by-side coaching work distinguishes it (IRA, 2004).
