CAEE 304 - Engineering Statistics Spring Semester 2019 Exam #6 Take Home Exam Due on Wednesday April 24, 2019 class time
Given the enclosed set of fifty observations of Weight of Coating of Galvanized Iron Sheets (oz/ft^2), it is desired to perform the following determinations:
1) Estimate the population parameters mean and standard deviation using the method of moments.
2) Form two histograms of the fifty observations. One showing the frequency of observations, and the second showing the probability density in each class interval.
3) Draw this last histogram together with the PDF of the normal distribution for the mean and standard deviation determined in part I. Observe and discuss the goodness of fit of this PDF and the histogram.
4) Sort the data in ascending order and calculate the plotting position on Normal probability paper [m (N+1)]. Estimate the mean and the standard deviation from the resulting graph.
5) Perform Chi-square test of the goodness of fit of the histogram by the normal distribution for a 5% level of significance.
