DNA synthesis occurs, with urea being an important process. Identical copies of the DNA molecules (sister chromatids) are joined at the centromere. Centrosomes produce the mitotic spindle to move the chromatids. Animal cells contain centrioles, which help organize cell division. Energy is replenished, organelles reproduce, and the cytoskeleton breaks down.
The main phases, G1 Phase, S Phase, and G2 Phase, comprise interphase when cells undergo normal growth and prepare for cell division.
