Indian software engineers from Mumbai or Bangalore frequently physically travel to meet their clients (on-site) or their teams in the US or Europe or in other geographic regions of the world. The breakdown of communication between Indian software engineers, their work teams, and their foreign clients is considered to be one of the key problems in the Indian software industry. While Indian software engineers and managers are fluent in English, it is their cultural communication style and their cultural perceptions about time, work productivity, and planning that are seen as deficient and problematic (Nadeem, 2011; Upadhya, 2008). Thus, cross-cultural psychology and management techniques are increasingly employed by Euro-American companies to create an ideal type of global culture that "every company, worker, and manager must work toward in order to compete in the global market" (Upadhya, 2008, p. 105). Explain what the authors consider problematic and use proper concepts we discussed in class.
