Construct Standard RTL with active pull-up resistor gate and perform the following:
1. Determine the voltage transfer characteristics (VTC).
2. Study the effect of variation of Rc on:
a. The average power dissipation.
b. The fan-out (such that Von-Vcc/2).
c. Rise time (t) and fall time (t).
3. Study the effect of variation of RB on:
a. The average power dissipation.
b. The fan-out (such that Von-Vcc/2).
c. Rise time (t) and fall time (tr).
4. Discuss the results in a short report.
Hint: For fanout,
- Iin can be measured directly.
- For Iolt: connect the output to a resistor (RL). Start changing the resistor value and monitor Vo. Once Vo reaches Vcc/2, fix RL and measure the current passing through RL. This is Iou.
Hint for rise time and fall time:
- To measure t and tc, connect a small capacitor in the 10-9 to 10-42 F range at the output of the gate.
