Hi everybody.
00:09
So today we're going to be talking about problem number four in chapter seven memory.
00:16
And this problem is essentially about repressed memories.
00:29
So i'm actually going to dissect this topic by talking about repression versus suppression.
00:36
So i'm just going to straighten this out a little bit.
00:40
So we'll do repression here versus suppression.
00:47
So the main difference between repression versus suppression is that when you are suppressing memories, you're consciously trying to force these feelings out of your awareness and you're purposely trying to not think about these things or you're purposely trying to forget these things because they're, you know, bad thoughts or unwanted thoughts, painful thoughts, whatever it may be.
01:17
So i'm going to write that down here.
01:20
So you are consciously trying to forget slash not think about a memory.
01:44
And like i said, usually these are painful thoughts or harmful thoughts or unwanted thoughts...
