Currently, Lake Mead next to Hoover Dam is 107 m deep. Hoover Dam takes water into several intake "straws", the deepest one being 5 m above the lakebed. A simplified version of the generation station is that a pipe connects the intake straw to an outflow valve at the bottom (0m) of the dam. Applying Bernoulli's equation, assuming the pipe is the same size from beginning to end, the turbines don't slow down the water, and the speed of the water is roughly zero at the lake surface and entering the pipe. What speed does the water come out of the valve at the bottom?
