Explain the effect of a catalyst on an equilibrium system.
Sima S.
What is the effect of a catalyst on a chemical equilibrium? The reaction typically goes in reverse - the reactants. The reaction normally goes forward with an increase of product formation. A catalyst has no effect on the equilibrium composition of the reaction mixture. The concentration of reactants increases exponentially. The equilibrium constant doubles its value.
