Did the new horizontal component of velocity at the moment of launch match your prediction? Explain.
Added by Diane J.
Step 1
The predicted horizontal component at launch is v_x(pred) = v0 × cos(theta), where v0 is the predicted initial speed and theta is the launch angle (or use the appropriate v0 and theta for the "new" launch conditions). Show more…

Title: Projectile Motion and Launch Angle In this experiment, we will be examining the effects of launch angle on the initial speed of a projectile. We will be conducting calculations for launch angles of 0" and 60" to determine the time of flight and the magnitude of the initial velocity. Additionally, we will calculate the percent difference between the magnitudes of the initial velocity found at these angles. Launch Angle (θ) | Height (h) (cm) | Time (t) (s) | Initial Velocity (v) (m/s) 0" | 302 | 4.50 | 8.8 60" | 66.3 | 6.9 | 9.3 93" | 94.6 | 8.4 | 10.4 30" | 40.4 | 3.0 | 4.07 52" | 52.0 | 5.2 | 5.2 We will be discussing the results obtained and analyzing the dependence of the launch angle and initial speed of the projectile. Furthermore, we will determine the average initial velocity and identify possible sources of errors and their effects on the results.

Does the vertical acceleration affect the horizontal speed of the plastic ball? Explain. This is a question from a Projectile Motion Lab where we used a spring projectile launcher to launch a plastic ball. In the lab questions, we only found the initial horizontal speed so I believe this is a theoretical question
2) Suppose that you now place the launcher on your desk, position it horizontally, and launch the projectile. A) Generally, what can be said about the behavior of the vertical and horizontal components of the ball velocity? B) With an assumed launch velocity V and launch height h, calculate how far the ball will travel before it hits the ground. Show your calculation and in your calculation, make sure to explain your reasoning and the appropriate principles involved. From your uncertainty in the speed and height in the tables, estimate the uncertainty of your prediction.
