All right, so the question says discuss a positive and negative experience you've had with evaluations and observations.
00:09
What did you learn from these experiences and how will this affect your professional practice as an evaluator? so i've mostly had positive experiences with evaluators and, you know, with observations, but i can think of one experience where an administrator came into my classroom to observe me and completely disrupted the lesson that i was presenting.
00:29
Upon entering the room well after the scheduled start time because we had a previous time we had scheduled where they were supposed to come right before the class started, but they ended up being late.
00:39
And they came in and greeted the class in such a bombastic manner that it completely threw off the flow of things.
00:46
They basically burst into my classroom and led the class in, i think it was like the notre dame cheer or something like that.
00:53
So completely threw off my lesson, which i had already started.
00:58
And then they proceeded from there to start asking the students irrelevant questions about their weekend.
01:04
And again, all this was taking place even though i had already begun my lesson and was well into the middle of my lesson.
01:10
It took me several minutes to get the students refocused and the rest of the lesson just didn't flow as well as a result.
01:17
And i can honestly say that because i did the same lesson with other classes and it flowed really well compared to this class.
01:28
Later on, i was going to bring up the matter at my post -observation evaluation, but that ended up getting canceled.
01:36
And so instead, i just received the formal paperwork that you normally get following an observation.
01:43
I had to sign off on it.
01:45
I was given a good evaluation, but again, the whole process was kind of soured for me because, you know, one, i never got to express my concerns.
01:54
And two, it was just such an unprofessional, you know, experience the way they had handled things, you know, coming into my classroom.
02:04
As far as positive experiences go, i had one administrator in particular that would actually give kind, meaningful, and constructive feedback.
02:11
One year, they came to observe me teaching a group of students that were known for their behavioral challenges.
02:17
You know, it was a group that tended to have a reputation for giving a lot of the teachers in the building a hard time.
02:24
And not only did this administrator commend the way that i worked with these students because they were well behaved, they were following all the prompts.
02:32
But afterwards, he also provided some additional strategies that i could use that i had not thought of...
