Dr. Kinbott hypothesizes that hypnotizing is an effective therapy to reduce behavior
problems in teenagers. She conducts an experiment to test her hypothesis. She randomly
assigns teenagers to be hypnotized during an hour-long session or to have an hour of detention
at their high school. She then asks the parents and teachers of the teenagers to record the
number of behavior problems (e.g., hitting, not doing chores, etc.) over one week. Use ā = 0.05
to help Dr. Kinbott test the hypothesis that hypnosis therapy reduces behavior problems. Detention Hypnosis
