An aircraft in flight experiences a force called drag which acts opposite to the direction of motion. The drag force is dependent on velocity, v, and is given by the formula D(v) = Av^2 + B/v , where A and B are constants that depend on the particular aircraft. What value of v minimizes the drag? (Express your answer in terms of A and B.)

A nice example of the difference that drag can make concerns raindrops. Consider a raindrop that has a radius of 2 mm and falls from a height of 1000 m. Furthermore, let us approximate the raindrop as a smooth sphere. The density of water is 1 g/cmÂł. In real life, the raindrop experiences a considerable drag force. When the drag force is considered, approximately how fast will the raindrop be traveling when it strikes the ground?
