The two main aspects of fluid flow in pipes is that of laminar and turbulent flow. Examine the characteristics of these flow types and determine the advantages/ disadvantages between these extremes of flow type? One way of determining the type of flow, is to analyse the flow using Reynolds number. By way of a review, show the significance of Reynolds number and how is it determined?

How does the flow rate (volume per second) change as a pipe rises? Does height contribute to flow rate or pressure. If the area and volume remain the same but the height is higher in one portion of a pipe than the other is the flow affected?
