Explain on how the personal beliefs below intersect Walden’s mission of social change and SDOH framework: Nursing is fundamentally a relationship-based profession that places enormous value on compassion, as patients, as well as their families, are vulnerable during times of illness (Chambers & Ryder, 2009; Schantz, 2007; Rückholdt et al., 2019). Based on this, I hold the following beliefs:
Each patient deserves to be treated as a whole person with unique needs, values, and circumstances.
Evidence-based practice must be adapted to individual patient contexts
Patient autonomy should be respected and supported through education and shared decision-making
Nursing care extends beyond physical symptoms to address emotional, spiritual, and social well-being.
Cultural humility is essential to providing effective care
For instance, when working with patients managing chronic pain, I believe in combining evidence-based pain management protocols with an exploration of how pain affects their quality of life and relationships, tailoring approaches to align with their personal goals and values.
