Figure 1 shows a schematic diagram of the structure of a typical light-duty stapler in which interactions among components are shown. After analyzing the components and studying the assembly sequences of the stapler, component 1 (upper cover) and component 5 (pin) were found not suitable to be grouped in any modules.
You are required to:
1. Generate an interaction matrix based on Figure 1. Note that components 1 and 5 need to be included in the interaction matrix.
2. Apply triangularization algorithm and sorting rules on the interaction matrix, thus generating another interaction matrix for modularity.
3. Identify the modules for the product family based on your results obtained in item 2.
