Research Article Summary Go to PsycPORT (https://www.apa.org/news/psycport/) and use the "search" tool to select an article related to one of the topics below. You are not limited to the first page of the site. Please clearly state your topic choice at the top of your submission. There are a few writing samples on my HCCS Learning Web profile page. Also, be selective in choosing the article. Choose an article that specifically discusses a particular study that directly relates to the topic. Provide details about the study design, results, etc. Do not choose an article that only provides basic information about the topic. For example, if you choose Learning, find a research article that connects Learning with another factor, such as poverty, and conducts a study related to those concepts. Another example of being too general would be using articles from the "help center" section of the APA website. When describing the cutting-edge research in your chosen article, provide specific details about the study design, number of participants/subjects, results, etc. While there is general information about these topics on the website, choose articles that discuss cutting-edge research related to the topic. A good rule of thumb is that if the information in the article can be found in the course textbook or a general psychology textbook, then the article is too general. Another key is if the article does not even mention your chosen topic as a key concept, it is best to find another article. There are no edits or changes allowed once the deadline passes, so make sure the work you submit is your final draft. Topic Choices: (your choice needs to be discussed in terms of Psychology) 1. Research ethics 2. Brain function 3. Learning 4. Memory 5. Child development

What can you find online that has been written about the Mozart effect, whether people should hug their dogs, or whether people should begin a mindfulness practice in their lives? Provide a link to the article and critically evaluate the source. For example, does the source you found discuss research evidence? Does the source provide the names and affiliations of scientists and the journals in which data have been published? On the downside, does the coverage suggest that you should purchase a product or that science has "proved" the effectiveness of a certain behavior or technique?
