Fluid Mechanics
(b) An empirical formula relating the energy per unit weight, hp, supplied by a pump and the flow rate Q through the pump is given by hp = 22.3 + 7.54 * 10Q^2, where hp is in units of Nm/N or m and Q is in units of m^3/s. Obtain a formula if hp is expressed in units of ft and Q in units of gallons per minute (gpm). Note that 1 ft = 0.3048 m, 1 min = 60 s, and 1 US gal = 3.785 * 10^3 m^3.
