So from a group of 30 people, we have to choose 13 people for a vert sport and we want to find how many different ways we can choose a group of this many people. So the first thing to realize is that to solve this problem we have to use permutations and the reason for that is because, with permutations we deal with events where repetitions cannot occur, and in that i mean that when we pick people 4 teams, we somehow can Pick that same person again right so with permutations, we use the formula and factorial divided by n minus r factorial. To give us a number of desired outcomes or n is equal to the total number of people we can pick from so that's 30, and so our denominator is n, minus r, where n is still 30 and r is how many people we want to pick. So that's 13 point, and so and our numerator is still 30 factorial or denominator. We can simplify 30. Minus 13 is 17, so 17 factorial 30 factorial divided by 17 factorial. We have to find the solution to that. That'S gonna be quite a large number. So from my calculator and scientific notation, this is just 7.457 times 10 to the 17 point, and so this right here is our final answer in scientific notation, and this is how many ways we can choose: 13 people out of 30 for porteour final answer:
