So the first thing to realize is that you have to solve this problem using permutations and the reason for that is because, with permutations we deal with events where repetitions cannot occur. So when we're picking people from a sports team, obviously the same person can be picked more than once. So with permutations. We use the formula n factorial, divided by n minus r factorial, to give us the number of desired outcomes where n is to go to the total number of people we can't pick from so that's 30 point and r is equal to how many people we want To pick so, our denominator- still n minus r and is 30 and r is equal to 8 because we want to have 8 people in our team. So if you simplify, this is equal to 30 factorial divided by 30. Minus 8 is 22 point, so 22 factorial and so there's gonna, be quite a large number. But if i plug this into my calculator, this comes out to 2359899989 and then 936 and the 0, and so in other words, this is 35089038000 point, so very large number. But this is how many different ways we can choose. 8 people for varsity sports seem out of a total of 30 point, so this is.
