So we will talk about eric's eight stages of development.
00:07
Eric erickson was a german psychologist who theorized that there is a specific psychological struggle that takes place through these eight stages of a person's life.
00:19
So these struggles contribute to our personality throughout our development.
00:24
Development.
00:25
So in what we became what became known as the eight stages of development theory erickson provide insights into both social and psychological development.
00:37
So this framework of thinking assesses the context of relationships in our life at these life stages.
00:45
So if we have to understand the stages so erickson's theories suggest that our ego adults throughout throughout in our entire life during eight specific stages so the first stage is infancy where there is a basic trust versus mistrust so when baby cries and we meet their needs by holding feeding and caring baby builds trust but when babies are neglected or their needs aren't met they develop mistrust and this stage starts at birth and usually lasts until baby is 18 months.
01:26
The next stage is toddler stage this shows autonomy versus shame and doubt so this stage begins at 18 months and lasts until the age of 2 or 3 years so at this stage toddlers toddler learns how to do things for themselves so by giving praise we help them to establish a foundation for self belief and autonomy but if we discourage a toddler and don't allow them to work independently they may be feel discouraged or doubtful about their abilities the next stage is preschool age and it involves initiative versus so this stage begins at age 3 and last until age 5.
02:17
So here child focuses on doing things independently and begin to develop a sense of aims and goals.
02:25
So when they feel encouraged, these children take the initiative to do things independently.
02:31
They feel a sense of purpose in their life.
02:34
But if they are criticized or discouraged by caregivers, they may feel guilty instead.
02:39
So the next stage is school age which involves industry versus superiority.
02:46
Stage begins at age 6 and last till age 11.
02:50
So during this stage, child becomes aware of their individuality.
02:57
They see accomplishments in school and sports and seek praise and support from those around them...
