So on these problems, it was written with words, left parentheses x, right parentheses, equals 2x plus 1.
00:11
And it wasn't really given a lot of direction in terms of what, to what extent, how far we were supposed to solve these for.
00:17
So i just went ahead and solved for x in these problems.
00:21
And so i have x equals 2x plus 1, get x is on one side, and get the numbers on the other.
00:27
So, arithmetically, the answer is negative 1 equals x.
00:31
Into the original equation, negative 1 equals question mark, 2 times negative 1 plus a 1, and then solve, and negative 1 equals a negative 1.
00:42
So that checks out for our first problem.
00:48
And then the second problem is on if we're looking at left parentheses, x right parentheses equals the square root of 2x plus 1, and then you end the root.
01:01
So what i did first was i squared both sides to get rid of square root and now i have x squared equals 2x plus 1 and then i solved as far as i could get it down with the x squared minus 2x minus 1 equals 0 and then solve using the quadratic formula which x in the quadratic formula equals a negative b plus or minus so there's actually two different sets of answers ones with the plus one with the minus and then you have the square root and this is of b squared minus 4 ac it's a minus 4 a c divided by 2a so on this i have x equals minus plus square root of 4 plus 4 divided by 2.
02:18
I also have as well a second answer of x equals a minus 2 minus square root of 4 plus 4 divided by 2.
02:31
And then on question j, x equals 2x divided by as a division because of the numerator and then the denominator and the denominator 2.
02:44
X plus 1.
02:45
I multiply both sides by the 2x plus 1, and i eliminate that whole thing, and it's no longer in a fraction, and then simplify and reduce, try to get it to its simplest terms.
02:58
And i was able to get as far to an answer of this x, and then x minus 1 equals 0.
03:08
So i'm not sure 100 % that that's the correct answer as far as i could get.
03:14
And then on letter k, we have a left for instance x right parentheses equals the square root...
