Hamilton notices that the lighting system is inefficient at night, since the solar panel’s internal resistance is absorbing power. Adjust the circuit diagram to demonstrate how a diode could be added to the circuit to allow the solar panel to supply power during the day and not absorb power at night. Then conduct research online to find a diode that would be suitable for your circuit. At a minimum, it must have a suitable forward voltage, forward current and reverse voltage. Provide supporting simulations or calculations to justify why the diode you have selected is suitable. Calculate the efficiency gained at night by including the diode in your circuit.
